Recent intense attention on 3rd and 4th Generation Mobile
Communication has given rise to strongly held but contrasting opinions
on the relative merits of the technologies in our title. In this talk
we attempt to clarify some of these issues by simple comparisons based
on capacity computations for wideband channels employing the various
technologies for mitigating the effects of multipath fading and
multi-user interference.
