A multiresolution approach reduces spatial correlations and lowers the conditional entropy of the image. Coefficients of each class, scale, orientation,  block and band are then predicted through a linear combination of coefficients belonging to a causal context included in the class. Our method outperforms other known 2D and 3D lossless compressors.
