This talk presents a framework that understand the performance of alignment schemes at finite signal to noise ratios (SNRs) for X channels. Specifically, it considers a combination of expansion coding, channel polarization with signal level alignment to enable computation of rates for these channels. This framework enables the characterization of rates that can be shown to have a constant gap from capacity, while being low complexity in nature.
