The workshop will be held at the spectacular Scripps Seaside Forum, part of UCSD's Scripps Institute of Oceanography. The Forum is located right on the Pacific Ocean, providing a perfect combination of serene academic settings with breathtaking ocean views and diverse nature trails. The complex has two large auditoriums and several smaller lecture rooms, well suited for our workshop. Weather permitting, we'll hold "sunset sessions" with munchies and drinks in the evenings. Below, you can see a movable panoramic view of the Forum (here is another) and a real-time surfers' webcam (yes, these are our students out there). When the camera pans all the way left, you can see the walk to the workshop hotels.

Accommodations will be at two landmark hotels: the La Jolla Shores Hotel (LJSH) and the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club (LJBTC) both are a beautiful short beach stroll from the Forum as you can see in the (prospective UCSD students: yes, next year these dudes on boards could be you).

The LJSH's amenities include two tennis courts, a heated pool, a fitness center, and more. The LJBTC is an exclusive resort with 12 tennis courts, a par-3 golf course, duck pond, heated pool, indoor and outdoor fitness facilities, and it is one of a handful of California hotels with its own private beach. If you end up liking it, you can join the club, just note the 3-year waitlist and modest initiation fee.

Rate and booking information is available in the accomadations tab of your profile when you log in.
